In need of updates and more space, Reifsteck Wakefield Fanning was contracted by the Central Illinois Mosque and Islamic Center (CIMIC) to expand and renovate the mosque. RWF met with a committee composed of mosque members to determine the needs and wants of the membership. With the budget in mind, updates are being made in five phases.
In the first phase, a new east entry was constructed to give more room for socialization and traditional shoe removal. A new entry patio and ramp was also be built. The parking lot was re-striped and modifications were made for storm water detention. RWF also provided construction management services. Future phases will include updates to the wudu, kitchen, classrooms and west entry. The existing lounge will be updated and a new lounge will be constructed.
