Illinois Field Baseball Clubhouse
Built in 1986, the Baseball Clubhouse facilities were outdated and needed to be renovated. The University knew they needed a building with all the amenities to maintain a high quality facility that will compete and compare with other Big Ten baseball teams. After a standard interview process, the University contracted Reifsteck Wakefield Fanning to remodel and design a new 1400 SF addition to the Illinois Field Baseball Locker Room.
The design allowed for expanding the size of the team locker room & team meeting room and team storage areas. The additional space provides a dedicated coaches’ locker room and umpire’s locker room. In the addition new facilities were added for a player lounge area that allows student-athletes the ability to study and is be a place to store historic team memorabilia. The University required access control devices to be incorporated into the design for the players to come and go as they please.
The University’s goal was to provide an energy efficient building. Engineering consultants designed systems that will enhance the entire environment and meet or exceed code fresh-air requirements.
The project was a success and DIA is proud to show off their new locker room facility to prospective students.
