Spaces | Unity High School Office and Teacher Workroom

Reifsteck Wakefield Fanning was asked by the Unit 7 School District to renovate the office at Unity High School in Tolono, and also design an addition that would become a workspace and restrooms for teachers. A key to the office renovation was to make the building more secure. Previously, visitors did not enter the high school through the office, which made it hard for staff to track who was entering and leaving. In the new plan, WRF demolished the current teachers’ lounge to allow access to the office from the high school’s main doors. The renovation also created a “lobby” space and reconfigured offices for the administration.

The addition was designed to create a new workspace for teachers in place of the demolished lounge. The new space includes work tables, copier and sorting space, restrooms and lounge features.
